Christmas Gift Idea: Handmade Ornaments

December 3, 2015

Handmade Ornaments from buttons and ribbons. @midmichiganmom

Redgreet

Christmas is one of my favorite seasons of the year. It gives me a reason to try new crafts and it’s the only time of  year when it’s acceptable to cover everything in GLITTER! Seriously, my house looks like it was hit by a glitter bomb right now…and that’s ok. I have been a crafting fool these last two weeks, but honestly, I’ve had A LOT on my mind. Crafting is my release, my happy place. Some people run. I cover things in glitter. =)

Gifts made with love are much better don’t you think? So, if you are looking for something special to give to someone this holiday, consider a handmade gift, more specifically handmade ornaments. Here is a tutorial for Easy Button Ornaments. Make sure to scroll all the way down to enter into the Amazon Giveaway!

Easy Handmade Button Ornaments

What you will need:

Buttons- even better if they are vintage

Matching Ribbon

Hot Glue gun

How to:

One of the best parts of handmade ornaments is that you can choose ANY color combinations.  I have been on a vintage/rustic/lace and burlap kick lately. I received this Christmas tree from a fellow blogger for my Thriftstore Swap. As soon as I saw the burlap base, I knew that white and burlap was the theme for me!

I may have gone a little overboard on the ribbon. Is there such a thing as TOO. MUCH. RIBBON?

As you can see, making these ornaments are super easy. First, cut 6-8 pieces of ribbon. Use the first ribbon as a template to ensure that each piece is the same length. Grab a button. Glue each loop to the button, making sure to do this in pairs (meaning the loops across from each other). Doing it this way will help with symmetry. Lastly, use a different ribbon or twine for the loop for hanging the ornament on the tree.

That’s it! So easy, yet so fullfilling. =)
