Thrift Store Swap Reveal #2

September 24, 2015

Redgreet

Fall brings on beautiful colors, pumpkin chai lattes, scarves…and a new thrift store swap reveal! Ewww, a thrift store? Girl, if you aren’t checking out your local second-hand store you are missing out on some great finds. Of course, it’s your prerogative, but just sayin.

What is the Thrift Store Swap?

12002110_10153630437509938_4635280483046154600_n

10 gifted bloggers from around the U.S commit to buying 2 random thrift store items for under $10. We each send our items to another blogger and receive from a different blogger.  It turns into one giant happy loop.

I got my swap items from Maggie @Less House More Home. Are you ready to see what she sent?

Here are my swap items!

Item #1: A Ceramic Plate

Before my thrift store swap makeover

Turned into a garden stone with handprints! AHH! This features my little 4-year-old and 6-year-old’s tiny little hands. I love it!

nullUnfortunately, I lost all “tutorial” pictures for this project when transferring it from my new camera. To make it up to you, I will make another one with my 10-year-old’s hand soon (she needs a stone all to herself). Make sure to subscribe to this blog so that you don’t miss out!

 Item #2 Bonjour Cupcake Decor

Cupcake Canvas before my Thrift Store Swap Makeover

Kind of cute right? My daughter begged me to let her keep this and to use a blank canvas for my swap instead. I refused so now I am the worst mother ever. It didn’t go with her theme anyway!

I turned it into Button Cherry Blossom art.

Now she likes the finished results and has forgiven me. All is good in my household. This project was so simple, I am thinking of making another one piece of art to match. Would you like to make your own version?

Check out the tutorial HERE.

It’s amusing to buy items with an amazing project in mind, then see what the other cool -yet completely different- project someone else comes up with. I sent my items to Emily @ Small Stuff Counts.

Check out what she did by visiting her page!

I would never have thought to turn that plate into a garden stone! And how precious to use your kids’ hand prints. Nice job! Thanks for letting me take part in the swap, it was a lot of fun.

I love the inspiration from this post. Yard sales, estate sales, and thrift stores thrill me. I will be keeping and eye out with a new purpose now.
