Christmas will be here before you know it! As a crafter, I LIVE for times like this… a reason, ANY reason to make a craft to give as a gift. That’s why when I ran into My Pinterventures 2015 Ornament Exchange I couldn’t resist. Over 80 bloggers are making (or buying) a special holiday ornament to give to another blogger. We’ll be releasing our ornaments a handful of bloggers at a time (over a span of two weeks) so make sure to check back!
I was paired up with Kelly from Simply Kelly designs.com. Family is very important to Kelly so I knew that I wanted to incorporate the theme into her ornament somehow. I found some adorable blocks in the $3 section of a local store and used those as the base for my ornaments. They are relatively easy to make especially if you bypass the painting. For this DIY project, we made 4 block ornaments (one for each member of Kelly’s family). Also, I used the block with the corresponding letter to each person’s first name =)

What you will need:
Mod Podge (for personalized pictures)
1 inch Blocks
Acrylic Paint
Charms
Ribbon
Drill with a small drill bit
If your block is a good quality block, you may want to leave it unpainted.
These blocks were painted to keep them consistent. I primed the blocks with .
Once dry, I used .
Next I repainted the letters and edges in
FolkArt Acrylic Paint called Christmas Red/
Maybe someday I’ll share what I tried with the first set of ornaments, but for now, just know that they came out to be a flop. Take 2 gave me a run for my money again as well. I’m so stubborn, that I keep attempting freehand paint projects. WHY???
Next, personalize your ornaments as wanted. I used Mod Podge to add each family member’s picture to their corresponding block. I also used accessories and a charm to add to the color and theme.
Drill a hole in each. Screw in each “screw eye”. Mine are 1/2 Zinc plated. Perfect size for this project.
Make sure to visit the other bloggers who are revealing their ornaments today!
